FAQS

Q. What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 100 natural compounds found in the Cannabis plant. It is derived from the hemp plant, which is a relative of the marijuana plant that produces delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive ingredient responsible for the "high" associated with marijuana. Unlike THC, CBD does not cause a “high.” To legally qualify as a CBD product, the total delta-9 THC content must be less than 0.3%.

Q. What are the benefits of CBD?
Our products are not approved by the FDA to diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any illnesses.

The human body has a specialized system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which produces neurotransmitters known as endocannabinoids. These bind to receptors in the nervous system and help regulate sleep, mood, appetite, pain, and immune system function. Discovered in the early 1990s during research on THC, the ECS plays a vital role in overall health.

Studies suggest that CBD may reduce chronic pain and inflammation by interacting with endocannabinoid receptors. Additionally, research in mental health has shown CBD may help alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression. Some studies indicate CBD’s potential to influence serotonin receptors, which regulate mood and social behavior.

Q. Are there any side effects?
Our products are not approved by the FDA to diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any illnesses.

CBD is generally well-tolerated, but some individuals may experience side effects such as dry mouth, diarrhea, reduced appetite, drowsiness, or fatigue. CBD can also interact with certain medications, particularly those with a "grapefruit warning," as it affects the enzyme cytochrome P450, which metabolizes some drugs.

According to the World Health Organization:
"In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential. To date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD."

Always consult your physician before starting any new botanical extract, medicinal herb, or dietary supplement.

Q. What does the law say about CBD? Is it legal?
CBD derived from hemp containing less than 0.3% THC is federally legal in the United States. However, laws vary by state, so it's important to check local regulations.

Q. What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?
Hemp and marijuana both come from the Cannabis sativa plant. However, marijuana typically contains 15-20% THC, whereas hemp has 0.3% THC or less. Hemp has been cultivated for thousands of years and is used for textiles, food, shampoos, and soaps. Marijuana, on the other hand, is primarily used as a psychoactive drug for medical and recreational purposes.

Q. Can CBD affect my prescription medication?
Yes, CBD may interact with prescription medications, particularly those with a "grapefruit warning." CBD inhibits the enzyme cytochrome P450, potentially increasing the toxicity or decreasing the effectiveness of certain drugs.

Always consult your physician before starting a new botanical extract, medicinal herb, or dietary supplement.

Q. Will I fail a drug test if I consume CBD?
It is possible to fail a drug test, depending on its sensitivity. Even though CBD products contain 0.3% THC or less, they may still have trace amounts of THC. To avoid this risk, choose THC-free CBD products. Unfortunately, we will not offer THC-free options until later this year.

Q. Where is your CBD sourced from?
Our CBD is responsibly sourced from licensed and reputable growers in California.

Q. Do you have a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?
Yes, we provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA) with every CBD flower or pre-roll purchase. Copies are also available under each strain listing. For additional information, email us at melaninhempgoddess@gmail.com.

Q. Can you get “high” from smoking or consuming CBD?
No, CBD cannot cause a “high” because it contains 0.3% THC or less, which is insufficient to produce mind-altering effects. Our products comply with all legal CBD/Industrial Hemp guidelines and are tested for authenticity through third-party labs.
